VOL. 1 MCGEE, INDIAN TERRITORY, JUNE 3, 1904 NO. 2

MCGEE, INDIAN TERRITORY - THE COMING CITY
Is in the beautiful Canadian valley and is remote from any other thriving town. It is in the northern part of the Chickasaw Nation, it is twenty miles east of Pauls Valley and twenty miles west of Ada. It is midway between the two great trunk lines of the Santa Fe and Frisco railroads.
The town has a population of about five hundred inhabitants, it has six General Merchantile establishments who carry a full stock of everything that goes to make up a first class merchantile store.
Two drug stores, two confectionaries, one first class hotel, various other boarding houses, and three blacksmith shops. Two physicians, two dentists, three lawyers, and one dress maker. We have three churches, Methodist, Baptist, and Christian, and all the most popular lodges. A good school besides private schools which help to give the children an education. Besides we have other business' incidental to good towns.
It is surrounded by the finest agricultural country in the south and the variety of soil produces such a variety of crops that a failure has never been known. The country surrounding McGee is settled by an industrious, intellegent, and law abiding class of people, but the country however, affords numerous and excellent opportunities for many people. Land can be purchased at a reasonable price and fertile land can be acquired at small rentals, which with proper cultivation brings forth abundant crops.
The class of men we have are financially responsible, and have a fine business showing their confidence in the future of the town. While we haven't got the advantages of a railroad at the present time, we feel assured in saying we will get one in course of time.
---------------
This section of the country was visited by a severe storm Saturday night, which played havoc with things in general. The new Methodist church which was near completion, was wrecked considerable, and will require some careful work to be straightened out. Fruit trees were blown down and fruit damaged considerable.
